Designing for the Extreme
Kahu's engineers know about designing for extreme conditions. When a competitor in non-stop, round the world, solo yacht race, the Vendee Globe, needed hydraulic cylinders for a canting keel, Kahu’s engineers were up to the challenge. They designed a lightweight and completely reliable hydraulic cylinder – a key component in a serious test of human and technical endurance.
Engineering in the Antarctic
Kahu brings professional engineering expertise to new frontiers. Kahu’s engineers have been involved in several projects with application in the Antarctic. These include stress analysis of components in skis of the Hercules C-130 and the design of hydraulic foundations for buildings stationed on the ice.
Kahu’s engineers are versatile and often apply their knowledge to fields outside of traditional engineering disciplines. Kahu undertook Finite Element Analysis of dental implants, allowing the client to test and optimize their designs virtually.
